By registering a specific domain name and getting the text just right, we were able to ensure he got massive traffic within a few short weeks that was the right TYPE of traffic also.

As always we did a quick check to see if his site would be compatible and that we could indeed get some results for him. Unfortunately, after some initial results got him right to the top, his site dropped significantly and quickly.
We couldn’t work out why the same bag of tricks we use for SEO on other websites didn’t work this time round, usually we find there is a list of obvious things to look for, however this time, there was no rhyme nor reason, and this drop was really affecting his business.

IN the last 24 hours I have been contacted by not 1, not 2 but 3 of my clients forwarding me an email they had received unsolicited to their inbox. It reads:

Aside from some grammatical errors, which you could put down to the current education system, this does not seem like a obvious scam. However, the plot thickens…

Visiting the website of this company, I get nothing, not a holding page, not a new website coming soon, certainly not a website explaining just what ethical SEO is all about in their eyes. I just get

Seriously? LOL!

Here is the problem, if you are not aware of what they are talking about, you might feel that there is something wrong. If you have not already put your mind at ease about SEO then perhaps you will assume you are missing out on the lions share traffic that could be making your business real $$$$.

So people contact them, pay them who knows what and then get no discernible improvement.

I guess my main issue is the term ethical SEO. How can SEO be ethical, the company providing the service can be ethical, but not the actual service itself?

However, there seems to be no ethical behavior from these particular people, as clearly they are trawling one of our websites to acquire new business. Hmmm ethical…

So let’s set facts straight:

“not on top rankings for most of your keywords pertaining to your domain”: How do they know what keywords pertain to your domain? Have they done research as to what people search for specifically?

“Ethical SEO leads Better Traffic leading to higher Sales.” I agree, however I call it targeted SEO because we target the right people in the right location to get them to your website, which when designed correctly should be a conversion machine!

“We follow all ethical and proprietary techniques to get your website on top.” My experience tells me that the main technique used by these firms is a lot of link building through link farms, and oh that’s right, Google removed content farms from it’s index to improve results (read more about that here).

So here is a tip. Deal with a company you can speak to on the phone. Make sure that you know what keywords you are after and have them verified by research. Do proper True SEO on your website to ensure you stay on top of the heap.

My school was very sports-oriented. As you can see, the high school popularity contest is not only alive and well, it is also the most influential judge of information on the planet. Scared?

In order for your website to be found by someone searching on Google, Google needs to know that your site actually exists. People often make the mistake of thinking that once their website is on the internet they will automatically be listed on Google, but this is not the case. There are two ways to get your website listed: you can submit your site to Google and tell them you exist, or (and I have found this to be the more effective method) you can allow Google to ‘stumble’ on your website by following a link from somewhere else.

Once Google is made aware of your website it will start to crawl through it, indexing every word, picture and link on every page. Once it has completed this process, your website is indexed. Your website will now be in Google along with everyone else’s.

Tip If you have nothing on your home page except for a big Flash file or graphic (even if it’s a picture with words), Google only sees the name of the file and any information outside the file itself.

Now that your site has been indexed, Google moves on the next phase of its mission — to find out how popular you are. This is what makes Google so extraordinary as a search engine; it determines the order of results based on how popular your website is. How does it do this, you ask? Some people mistakenly think it does so based on traffic, but this is not the case. Google has no idea how much traffic your website gets unless you give it that information.

Other people think the order of results has something to do with how many pages each site has, and how many times keywords appear. This is true to some extent, but repeating your keywords over and over is hardly going to create a pleasant
experience for people visiting your website. The main thing that influences where you will come up in a relevant search is how many friends you have. Or, more importantly, how many inbound links your site receives. Inbound links are not links from you to other people — they are links from other people to you. However, it’s not worth going out and listing your website on every page you can, because the only ones that really matter are those with a high PageRank. This is Google’s technology for determining the value of a link to your site, based on the number of people who link to a page. Confused?
